CLIMATECH 2025: Driving Climate Action through Technology and Collaboration

Karachi, Pakistan – The NED University of Engineering and Technology hosted the 2nd International Conference on Technology-Driven Climate Action (CLIMATECH 2025) on January 16–17, 2025. Organized in collaboration with Dawlance and REON Energy, the two-day conference brought together global experts, policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, and students to address pressing climate challenges.

The Chief Guest, Turkish Consul General Mr. Cemal Sangu, emphasized the importance of fostering collaborative efforts to combat climate change. Pro Vice-Chancellor of NED University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tufail, highlighted the university’s active role in promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in clean energy, sustainable urban development, and climate action. He also underscored the integration of sustainability and climate change topics into the university’s curriculum and its outreach efforts to raise awareness within the local community.

Conference Chair Prof. Dr. Muhammad Imran Aslam described CLIMATECH 2025 as a platform designed to unite diverse stakeholders in tackling climate issues. Co-Chair Dr. Irfan Ahmed stressed the urgency of addressing climate challenges, which threaten ecosystems, economies, and societies worldwide. Meanwhile, Conference Secretary Dr. Hira Mariam highlighted the critical role of the engineering fraternity in advancing sustainable technologies and innovative solutions to combat climate change.

The conference featured a range of engaging activities, including:

A knowledge session on advancing the circular economy in Pakistan.
A panel discussion on stakeholder engagement for climate action.
Technical sessions on topics such as agriculture and water management, green economy and sustainability, and emerging solutions for climate action.
A sustainability hackathon, organized by Dawlance, to inspire innovative solutions.
Speakers presented cutting-edge technologies and strategies to monitor and mitigate environmental challenges, emphasizing collaboration between academia, industry, and policymakers. The event highlighted the transformative potential of technology in achieving climate resilience and sustainability.

CLIMATECH 2025 reinforced its position as a global platform for addressing climate change through innovative technologies, underscoring the importance of collective action in shaping a sustainable future.
